Adrian & Barry Nesbitt

Adrian & Barry Nesbitt
Why I'm Participating

The Nesbitt brothers - while Adrian scores the goal on the field, Barry commands the roads on his bike. However, with this cycling challenge, Adrian's goal-scoring finesse might not be overly beneficial. Big brother Barry's expertise will be crucial, perhaps even necessitating the tandem bike to keep them right!

Both men donned the black and amber in their youth days and on Barry's behalf began to become involved once again with his wife Lorraine when their children Ryan, Megan & Chloe showed interests in playing. Barry, who it would seem caught the road cycling bug off his uncle Bill, is an active member of the Tir Chonaill GAP Cycling Club and his experience on the bike renders him a valuable participant to have in "100 to Home"!

Adrian's footballing journey is quite a captivating tale, marked by a couple of remarkable records that may stand the test of time. Spending much of his time playing soccer with his beloved Dunkineely Celtic, he'd a ten-year hiatus from Gaelic football.

However, in his late twenties, he was lured back to the sport, and after showcasing his skills with the reserves, he made a spectacular debut on the senior team. Already having scored 1-2 with the reserves earlier in the day, Adrian was drafted into the senior ranks one Sunday afternoon by Joe Kennedy and ended up with an impressive 3-1. Scoring a hat trick on debut is indeed a remarkable achievement, akin to the likes of Wayne Rooney (Manchester United).

Fast forward a few years and he now holds another record, being among the select few players who can proudly claim three Junior B Championship medals to their name. His journey includes netting in 2011, contributing in 2013, and culminating in both scoring and captaining the side in the 2022 final.

With his impressive goal-scoring record, he better impart valuable lessons to Kayden and Nathan on finding the net effectively. Moreover, his wife Paula, who plays for the G4MO team, might benefit from his expertise, especially considering the team's need for a proficient finisher in the forward line!
