One of our two local plumbers partaking in the "100 To Home" initiative, Gary Gallagher courageously accepts the challenge of cycling, despite not being on a bike since he was a child!
"Nally," as he's affectionately known, dedicated his prime footballing years to the States and prior to that proudly represented the club at underage level. Upon his return, he tied the knot with his wife, Kathy. Today, their entire family is intertwined in the club's affairs, with both parents being members and their children, Chulaínn, Aoibheann and Conor playing underage.
Furthermore, the Gallagher family has played a pivotal role in our LGFA board's success, with Nally's brother, John, serving as its chair for a couple of years, steering our LGFA to great achievements in its relatively brief existence!
His brother-in-law, Seamus, was no stranger to the football field either. He was a notable member of the esteemed teams from the 1980s, which clinched the club's inaugural Championship title, triumphing in the Intermediate Championship of 1984. Continuing his football journey for years to come, Seamus remained a stalwart presence within the club. In 2011 and 2013, he lent his experience to the cause, particularly as part of the seasoned contingent, by taking up the goalkeeping duties for our reserves, contributing to their two victories in the Junior B Championship.
Let's hope Nally puts in the necessary practice for this challenge. Although his reliable toolbox and new Transit van might appear indispensable, they'll offer little aid as he pedals his way from Errigal to Páirc Naomh Ultan!
