Aaron Kyles
Why I'm Participating

There are few corners of both our country and abroad where the name Aaron Kyles doesn't resonate. From Kerry to Clare, from Sligo to Derry, from Dunkineely to Donegal, and even across to Dallas and New York City, Aaron's expertise has left an indelible mark on many a team.

Since he could tie his laces he has been involved in our club, playing in every grade from U10 to Senior level. A decorated underage career was had, captaining winning sides at U14 and U16 level whilst also being a big part of the very successfully Minor team of 2008 when he played in the team as a 15 year old.

It wasn't long before Aaron's talents earned him a place in our senior side, his passion for the game and commitment seamlessly integrating him into the fold.

Driven by his love for Gaelic games, Aaron ventured to what many consider the very heart of the GAA, Co. Kerry. It was there that his coaching journey commenced at the Institute of Technology Tralee. During his time in Kerry, Aaron lent his expertise to various club sides and also took on the coaching duties for the ITT's Sigerson team. His coaching horizons expanded further as he ventured into Cork and Clare, before returning to make his mark at Páirc Naomh Ultan. Aaron played a pivotal role in the team's endeavors, notably during the agonizingly close promotion bid and Junior championship final in 2014.

His thirst for knowledge then led him across the Atlantic to Dallas, Texas, where he honed his skills with Athlete Training & Health, specializing in sport performance coaching for high school, collegiate, and professional athletes.

Upon his return to Ireland, Aaron wasted no time immersing himself back into Gaelic games, simultaneously coaching the Kilcar senior football team in 2016 while pursuing a Masters in Sport Performance at the University of Limerick. In 2018, he joined the Sligo senior football squad as their S&C coach before embracing a role in Declan Bonner's backroom team with his home county in 2019.

Taking on the mantle of Donegal Coaching and Games Development Manager, Aaron steered the course of coaching and games development in the county, achieving remarkable strides within a relatively short span of time. During his tenure, he also began channeling his expertise towards our own club, focusing on management and strength and conditioning. The following season, his skills were sought after by GAA powerhouses Slaughtneil and Donegal New York during the summer months.

Currently, Aaron serves as a lecturer at the ATU Donegal School of Science, balancing his academic pursuits with his enduring passion for Gaelic games. And when he's not enlightening minds in the classroom, you'll find him at Páirc Naomh Ultan, where he is fulfilling the pivotal role in the club of coaching officer and also embarks on his 15th year of playing senior football.

A testament to his enduring dedication, though it might also hint at his advancing years!
