Peter & Pauline McFarlane
Why I'm Participating

Introducing Peter & Pauline McFarlane, once of a few couples taking on this challenge together!

Peter, originally from Tullamore, became part of our community more than a decade ago after meeting Pauline Shovlin from Brenter. His impact on our club and the surrounding community has been nothing short of remarkable. On the field, Peter has not only played for the club but has also dedicated his time to coaching various underage teams in both GAA and the local soccer club.

Off the pitch, Peter served as the Health & Wellbeing Officer and Healthy Clubs Ambassador. Throughout the challenging times of the Covid pandemic, his commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our members and the community truly shone. He took the lead in organizing community walks and other activities, contributing significantly to our achievement of the Gold Healthy Club status in the Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs program.

Peter's contributions extend beyond health initiatives. He has been a driving force behind our club's developments, playing a pivotal role in establishing our walking track facilities. Despite his demanding day job at MCF Building Consultants, Peter generously shared his time, expertise, and knowledge at no cost, making it possible for us to create a valuable facility for our diverse community.

Pauline is no stranger to Naomh Ultan either, her brothers Brendan & Martin both have Championship medals with the club. Pauline is an active member who is involved at coaching in underage levels and is part of our Gaelic4Mothers&Others team. Their two children, Tiarnan & Brianne both play for the club and there isn't many evenings at Páirc Naomh Ultan that you won't see them!
