Why I'm Participating

Paul dedicated two decades to representing Naomh Ultan on the field, showcasing his reliability as a corner back despite occasional moments of wandering up the field. His contributions were integral to securing two Junior B Championships, notably captaining the team to their inaugural victory in 2011 and being one of the more veteran members of the team in 2022.

Between those victories, he was a constant figure in our senior team for many years and was part of the squad that came agonizingly close in 2014, narrowly missing out on promotion in a playoff and experiencing a heartbreaking defeat in the Junior championship final.

His family has a proud tradition of representing the club, with his father Michael being involved from the early years, notably during the successful period of the early 1980s, highlighted by their Div 3 Shield achievement in 1982/1983. His brother Dermot was a linchpin of the senior team for over 15 years, leading the side as captain in 2014 and contributing significantly to their well-deserved double in 2015, winning the Div 4 league and Junior A Championship.

Although now residing in Dublin, Paul's association with Naomh Ultan remains unwavering. His commitment extended beyond the field as he played a pivotal role on our Healthy Clubs Committee in recent years. With his help, the club achieved a prestigious Gold Healthy Club status in the Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs programme in September 2023, highlighting Paul's enduring dedication to the well-being of our community.

Word has it from the big smoke that Paul has been spotted zipping around Lucan and the Phoenix Park aboard an electric bike. With rumors abound, there's a whisper of concern that he might seek an unfair advantage during the upcoming 100km cycle. Rest assured, there will be a thorough inspection on the day to ensure no mechanical contraptions are attached to his bike!
